Here are some commonly asked questions. If you have other questions please give us a call, we would love to have a chat with you.
What does CSA stand for?
CSA is short for Community Supported Agriculture, a system where farmers and families form closer relationships for mutual benefit. Families recieve freshest, most nutrient rich produce from farmers they know, in return for paying up front and agreeing to fit in with the seasonal flow and unforseen farm disasters that affect produce availability and cosmetic quality. Farmers recieve money in advance and a supportive customer base in exchange for providing families with a good range of fresh, nutrient rich food grown without toxic synthetics.

Do you grow everything that goes into your boxes?
We try and grow as much of the produce as we can however to ensure we have a good variety of produce available we do source produce from other growers locally, from other growers at our farmers market(Northey Street, Brisbane), and via foodconnect, particularly over winter.
Do I get to choose what I get in my box?
Yes! Every Monday you can log onto our website and select from our list what you would like in your Produce Box that week or if you dont mind 'christmas in a box' you can tell us and we will pack you a Mystery Box full of our best produce.
Is everyting in your boxes certified organic?
All the produce that is grown on Symara Farm is certified with Certified Naturally Farmed - Granite Belt. We do source produce from other local growers most of whom are also certified organic but are few are organic but not certified. On the weekly list it will tell you if the product is organic or chemical free and who and where the farmer is. Occasionally we will have produce from local biological/conventional farms where local organic produce is unavailable, but this is always indicated on the order page
I only want to eat LOCAL produce
Our produce is grown at 45 Dunns Road, The Summit, Queensland. We do source produce from other farmers to ensure we have variety, however these are generally also local farmers that we know. The furtherest we would ever source produce from is citrus fruits from from Gayndah in winter. We believe in minimising our food miles as much as possible.
How much do you get in a box?
Our box system allows you to order as much or as little as you need from our available produce. If you choose to get a Mystery Box you will recieve 13 'items' in your box for $42.
How much does it cost to subscribe?
As a subscriber you pay for boxes in advance, with the minimum subscription being $140 and a 10% bonus if you pay $300 or more. The price of each item you add to your order is deducted from your 'Symara Account', and you top up your symara account balance as you need to. There is also a small surcharge if your order is less than $30.
What if a box a week is too much for me?
No worries. You can either find a friend to split the box with or you can get a box every second week. We are happy to have a chat and find out what works best for you.
What if I am going away on holidays in the middle of a subscription?
No worries. We have a flexible system, you only order when you need to, so you can go away on holidays and not worry about having to stop your subscription.
What if I forget or am too busy to place an order?
When you first subscribe, we will ask you if you would like to get a Mystery Box if we dont recieve an order from you. That way if you forget or are too busy to place an order, you will always have freash organic produce every week no matter how busy you are.
Is that plastic mulch I can see in some of your pictures?
Yes and No. The black film we use to suppress weeds in our vegetables is actually a biodegradable plastic made from corn protein.
